The absurd, irreverent and socially engaged humor of Abubukaka, the most beloved comedy troupe in the Canary Islands, arrives this Sunday at the Centro Cultural de la Villa in Santa Brígida. At 7:30 p.m., the theatre company will present its show “Foscurí”, with free admission. The quartet returns to the stage with a transgressive piece that, through the sharpest irony, delivers a fierce satire of institutions, passing trends and everyday chaos. In the words of the performers themselves, it is a proposal where satire and dark humor go hand in hand to shed light on what others prefer to keep in the dark, managing to turn social critique and absurdity into collective laughter. The company was founded in 2006 in Tenerife by four actors who have built a prominent career within the island’s cultural scene. Their success is based on their own café-theatre shows, their tours of festivals and theatres, and their established presence on social media and in audiovisual media, where they also create humorous content characterized by absurd comedy and a critical take on current social and political affairs. The show is part of the cultural programme for the Fiestas de San Antonio, designed by the Departments of Culture and Festivities headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara.
