Menopause Health Conference Arucas
Details
VII Menopause Health Conference To mark International Menopause Day, on October 10, 2026, the Nuevo Teatro Viejo de Arucas will host the 7th Menopause Health Conference, organized by Menopausia en Red, Nayra Gómez and Gaby Almeida. This is a free event open to the general public, especially aimed at women in perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause, as well as anyone who wants to prepare in advance and better understand this stage of life. The conference will bring together professionals from different fields to address menopause from a broad perspective — medical, social, sexual, oncological and institutional — with the goal of providing rigorous, understandable information that is useful in everyday life. In the morning, Verónica Hernández Torres, social educator and expert in equality, will discuss how mental load, caregiving, work, aesthetic pressure and ageism can influence the experience of menopause. Dr. Carmen Murias, specialist in Medical Oncology and breast cancer, will speak about natural and treatment-induced menopause in oncology, about the symptoms that may be sidelined during the cancer process, and about the tools available to improve quality of life. Rita Calero Cordobés, president of the Asociación Más Mujer Canarias, will also take part, to bring menopause into the public agenda and explain the institutional work carried out in the Canary Islands. Lorena Moreno, from the Olistic medical team, will focus on other, less recognized changes in this stage, such as those related to skin, hair, body image and well-being. Sexologist Cristina Izquierdo will open a taboo-free conversation about desire, the body and pleasure during menopause, questioning myths related to sexuality and age. For her part, nurse and menopause educator Nayra Gómez will present “Everything a woman should know about her health before, during and after menopause. The health map for women 40+”, a practical overview of cardiovascular and metabolic health, bone and muscle health, brain health, genitourinary syndrome, habits, health check-ups, and those changes that deserve professional assessment.
