The Last Night – Documentary Screening
Details
🎬🕯️ “THE LAST NIGHT” | RECOVERING OUR MEMORY What was death like in La Aldea during the 1940s and 1950s? What were the wakes, the farewells, and the nights spent keeping vigil over our departed like? From the Fundación Canaria Proyecto Comunitario de La Aldea we present “The Last Night”, a short documentary film that, through the testimonies of our elders, recovers the customs, beliefs, and traditions related to death in our society. 📅 31 October 🕗 8:00 p.m. 📍 Front of the La Hulagüilla cemetery, La Aldea de San Nicolás. 🎥 A screening that forms part of the Ruta de los Finaos, open to everyone who would like to join us. 🙏 We thank the Ayuntamiento de La Aldea, through its Department of Historical Heritage; the Department of Culture of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria; and the Enseñas Program of the Government of the Canary Islands for their collaboration. Our special thanks to the Parish, for its participation and for allowing us to turn the cemetery into a space for learning and remembrance, always with the deepest respect for those who rest there. ❤️ And, above all, thank you to all the people who have made this production possible, which will remain as a valuable educational and teaching resource for future generations. Because remembering those who came before us is also keeping our history alive. 🕯️
