Details

Pacho Flores: Alchemy of the Trumpet brings Pacho Flores back to the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra season as both soloist and composer. Under the baton of David Danzmayr, the program ranges from the classicism of Neruda to the Latin American rhythms of "Albares", a work written by Flores himself. Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 completes an evening defined by color, virtuosity, and orchestral richness. * Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The Venezuelan trumpeter Pacho Flores returns to the season of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra in his dual role as soloist and composer, in a program conducted by David Danzmayr, who makes his debut leading the ensemble. The evening opens with the Concerto for Corno di Caccia and Strings by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda, a work linked to the galant style that marked the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods. Next, Pacho Flores presents "Albares", a flugelhorn concerto in three movements in which a variety of rhythms and sonorities from Latin America coexist, from the Andean bambuco and the Río de la Plata milonga to the periquera of the Venezuelan plains. The program culminates with Symphony No. 8 by Antonín Dvořák, a work bathed in the vivid colors of Czech folklore, in which the genuine symphonic drive finds perfect synthesis with dance-like airs, melodic effusion, lyricism, and freshness that characterize a large part of his output.
