As part of the celebration of Beethoven’s anniversary, Trevor Pinnock conducts a program with pianist Alexandra Dovgan as soloist in the Piano Concerto No. 4. The evening is completed by Mendelssohn’s overture The Fair Melusina and Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 “Prague”. * Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Trevor Pinnock, one of the great specialists in the Classical repertoire, conducts a program of refined lines as part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of Beethoven. The young pianist Alexandra Dovgan, one of the most talked-about revelations on the international piano scene, performs the Piano Concerto No. 4, a work of great poetic breadth in which the genius from Bonn achieves a balanced synthesis of contrasting dramatic forces embodied in the piano and the orchestra. The concert opens with Mendelssohn’s overture The Fair Melusina and closes with Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 “Prague”, a distinguished example of Viennese Classicism premiered by the brilliant Salzburg-born composer in the Czech capital, whose imposing dramatic tone points the way to Don Giovanni, which he would also premiere in Prague.
