29 semifinalists from eleven countries in the Valleseco Zarzuela Competition The competition incorporates the Ensemble of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in the grand final and extends its program to three other islands The 14th Valleseco International Zarzuela Competition consolidates its international scope as a platform for promoting the Spanish-language lyric genre and as a meeting point between heritage, new generations of performers, and the cultural projection of the Canary Islands. The Valleseco Town Council and Artífex ProArt are driving a new edition which, from October 13 to 23, will bring together 29 semifinalists linked to eleven countries and will roll out artistic, educational, and social activities on three other islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma. The presentation, held yesterday in the press room of the Teatro Cuyás, featured the participation of Guacimara Medina Pérez, Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; María Inmaculada Herrera Marrero, acting mayor of Valleseco; Javier Prieto González, Director of Institutional Relations at Promotur Turismo Canarias; and Isabel Costes, artistic director of the Competition. The speakers agreed on highlighting the capacity of this initiative to preserve and renew zarzuela, to bring culture closer to different sectors of the public, and to project Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands as a whole internationally through a specialized cultural proposal, rooted in the territory and open to the world. 📰👉C7
