🎨 A journey through intuition and the purest emotion is the proposal with which the Canarian artist and court attorney Octavio Esteva arrives at the Sala Lola Massieu in Santa Brígida. A legal professional and painter by vocation, Esteva has built over the years an artistic language of his own, in which his analytical gaze and his need for expression coexist. The exhibition, organized by the Department of Culture of the Santa Brígida City Council, opens next Thursday, September 3, at 7:00 p.m. under the name "Horizonte Abstracto". In the exhibition, the artist does not depict the world as it is seen, but as it is felt, and abstraction is not a limit, but a space of absolute freedom that allows him to explore the deepest layers of human experience. True to this philosophy of freedom, none of the exhibited works will bear a title. Far from being a minor detail, this decision seeks to offer visitors a receptive experience without ties that could condition their interpretation. The space chosen for the exhibition takes on a special meaning by bearing the name of Lola Massieu, a key figure for the artist. To this island background are added the influences of masters of Canarian art such as Pino Ojeda, César Manrique, Manolo Millares, Pedro González, Yolanda Graziani and the much-missed Juan José Gil, who came to know and value Esteva’s work. All this cultural wealth is further enriched by the theoretical reflections of the historian and critic Franck González. This Canarian substrate establishes a direct dialogue with the group El Paso and the Museo de Arte Abstracto Español in Cuenca, essential references of Spanish informalism, as well as with the great figures of international abstract expressionism: the gestural force of Pollock, the stroke of De Kooning, the color of Hofmann, the light of Frankenthaler, the morphology of Gorky and the intensity of Kline. A spark of each of them beats in Esteva’s brushwork.
