48th North-South Gran Canaria Crossing 2026 Since 1978, the North-South Gran Canaria Crossing has established itself as one of the most iconic mountain hikes in the archipelago. It was created thanks to a small group of climbers who opened an exceptional route crossing the island from north to south, creating an itinerary that still brings together lovers of nature, sport and togetherness. In its 48th edition, the crossing will be held on June 13 and 14, 2026, covering approximately 58.6 kilometers from San Andrés to the Maspalomas Lighthouse, passing through some of the most representative landscapes of Gran Canaria and with a cumulative elevation gain that puts to the test the endurance and determination of its participants. More than just a sporting event, this crossing is a gathering based on camaraderie, respect for the mountains and love for the island, keeping alive the legacy of those who made it possible almost five decades ago. 2026 Tribute As is tradition, each edition pays tribute to people who have contributed to the development of mountain culture and sports. In this 48th edition, the recognition is dedicated to Teresa Perdomo Álamo ("Teresita"), one of the key figures linked to the history of the Crossing since its beginnings. Her dedication, commitment and human warmth left an indelible mark on those who shared this project with her. Although the tribute arrives posthumously, her memory continues to walk alongside every step of this great adventure, inspiring new generations of hikers. A crossing to walk the island, share experiences and keep alive a story that continues to be written year after year.
