The origin of the project goes back to 2005, when Paul Anka released Rock Swings, an album that caused a stir by reinterpreting major international rock hits from the eighties and nineties with elegant jazz arrangements. The record won over both rock lovers and jazz fans by offering a completely renewed vision of each song without losing the essence of the original versions. Years later, the Perinké Big Band incorporated that repertoire into its programming to pay tribute to that innovative concept. The audience’s reception and the artistic experience led the ensemble to take things a step further: to create a show inspired by that idea, but dedicated to some of the most representative songs in Spanish rock. This is how Spanish "Rock Swings" was born, a musical journey that revisits major songs from the nineties to the present day through original big band arrangements. Songs by Fito, Bunbury, Robe Iniesta, Rosendo and other key figures in Spanish rock acquire a new dimension, combining the energy of the original compositions with the harmonic richness, rhythm and elegance of jazz. Leading the show is Litus, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and one of the most renowned showmen on the Spanish music scene. His versatility and artistic personality turn his voice into the perfect link between two musical universes that, far from being opposites, interact with complete naturalness on stage. The musical arrangements bear the signature of Claudio Marrero, a composer, arranger and musician from Gran Canaria based in Barcelona, who specializes in writing for big band. His work gives each piece its own identity, respecting the essence of the original songs while transforming them into compositions full of new nuances, color and expressive power.
