La Aldea Town Council and the JEA Youth Association promote intergenerational unity with a special gathering for International Youth Day La Aldea de San Nicolás Town Council continues to promote initiatives for community participation and the strengthening of the social fabric in the municipality. Within this framework, the Youth Department, headed by Miguel Ulises Afonso, together with the JEA Youth Association (Jóvenes En Acción), has organized an Intergenerational Gathering that will take place on August 17, 2026, at the headquarters of the Labraldea Neighbourhood Association. Among the activities scheduled for this day are dialogue workshops "Before and now", traditional games, paired crafts, knowledge exchange through "Technology in reverse", and participatory dynamics such as the "Chain of stories" and the "Tree of wishes". The program will be structured in two sessions (morning from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and afternoon from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), fostering shared learning and mutual respect between young people and older adults in the municipality. "These kinds of gatherings are essential to create spaces where our young people can value the experience of our elders and, at the same time, contribute their vitality and innovation, strengthening the social cohesion of La Aldea," said the Councillor for Youth, Miguel Ulises Afonso. For their part, from the JEA Youth Association (Jóvenes En Acción) they pointed out that "we want the young people of the municipality to lead projects with a positive community impact, since these activities make it possible to build bridges between generations, demonstrating that both groups have a great deal to teach and learn from one another." In this way, La Aldea de San Nicolás Town Council reaffirms its commitment to continue working hand in hand with the municipality’s network of associations to promote initiatives that contribute to sustainable social development, foster community revitalization, and result in an improved quality of life for all citizens.
