Screening of documentary “Desde Dentro, historias de proceso y cambio”
Details
Today, June 26, we commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. From the Addictive Behaviors Unit of Arucas, we want to take this date as an opportunity to remember something important: behind every addiction there is a person, a story, and a process of change. That is why we have created the documentary “FROM WITHIN, stories of process and change”, which seeks, through testimonies and accounts from users of the Unit, to approach the phenomenon of addictions and the “personal journey” that the persistent effort toward recovery entails. The documentary will also feature the participation of the Unit’s technical staff who, drawing on their professional experience, explain the multi-causal dimension of addictions, debunk myths about the profile of affected people, highlight the importance of eliminating the stigma that leads to discrimination against people with addictions, and above all, make recovery visible, stressing that overcoming addiction is possible and real. In addition, through these close-to-home narratives, the documentary acts as a social stimulus that dissolves shame and stigma, transforming the passive stance of people with addictions into an active decision to turn to this resource and take the first step toward recovery. Today we are sharing the trailer as a preview of the public premiere, which will take place next Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library. We look forward to seeing you there to share this space for reflection, listening, and awareness-raising. Because talking about addictions is also talking about health, dignity, and opportunities for change.
