The El Rincón del Jazz series at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus welcomes Graziëlla Hunsel & The New York Round Midnight Orchestra, an ensemble that pays tribute to the great tradition of vocal jazz and American big bands. With a concept that evokes the atmosphere of the grand theatres and jazz clubs of the mid-20th century, the show explores some of the most emblematic repertoires associated with figures such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. The warm voice of Graziëlla Hunsel, together with a carefully assembled line-up of prominent musicians from the Dutch jazz scene, brings to life a programme that combines elegance, energy and interpretative depth. Moving between swing, bebop and the great songs of the American songbook, this international production offers a musical experience that connects the jazz tradition with a contemporary perspective, in a new encounter with the finest international jazz within El Rincón del Jazz. The New York Round Midnight Orchestra, together with vocalist Graziëlla Hunsel Rivero, presents a journey through some of the great repertoires in the history of jazz, evoking the atmosphere of the legendary clubs and theatres that shaped the musical life of New York during the 20th century. With a solid international career and performances on major European stages, the ensemble combines the legacy of swing and bebop. Their proposal revisits music associated with essential figures such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Oscar Peterson and Art Blakey, from a respectful and contemporary standpoint. The voice of Graziëlla Hunsel Rivero brings personality and expressiveness to a repertoire that moves naturally between the intimacy of ballads and the energy of large jazz ensembles. Alongside her, the orchestra brings together leading musicians from the Dutch jazz scene: Alexander Beets on tenor saxophone, Ellister van der Molen on trumpet, Francesco Rodrigues on piano, Marius Beets on double bass and Sven Rozier on drums. The result is a project that celebrates the jazz tradition and its constant capacity for renewal, bringing audiences closer to the richness and diversity of one of the most influential musical languages of the last century.
