The French conductor Marc Minkowski makes his debut with the Gran Canaria Philharmonic with a program entirely dedicated to Beethoven, as part of the celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the composer's death. James Ehnes returns to the season to perform the Violin Concerto, one of Beethoven’s most beautiful works and a true model for a large part of the later concert literature for violin and orchestra. Minkowski brings the program to a close with one of Beethoven’s great milestones, Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”, a decisive work in the passage from Classicism to Romanticism.
