Atlas de Anatomía – Dance Performance by Paula Quintana

The body as territory and memory as trace. These are the coordinates on which “Atlas de Anatomía” is built, the acclaimed creation by Tenerife-born dancer and choreographer Paula Quintana, which will arrive next Friday, September 25, at 8:00 p.m., at the Centro Cultural de Santa Brígida, part of the Department of Culture headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara. Admission will be free. The piece, recognized with the 2025 Réplica Award for Best Dance Show and Best Sound Space (created by Miguel Marín), is also part of the national Danza Escena 2026 Catalogue. “Digging into identity – Bastard flamenco – Impure Latino” is the subtitle that accompanies this 55-minute piece in which dance, live singing and sound space intertwine to build a stage language that is as physical as it is personal. Quintana shares the stage with the vocal ensemble Proyecto eLe, whose voices also become a collective body, a choir and a witness that is part of the choreography. In Atlas de Anatomía, the female and island body becomes material for exploration. A body crossed by Andalusian heritage, Afro-Latin influences and the European present; a territory where identity, mestizaje and the desire for freedom coexist. The project is supported by the MARES program of the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife, INAEM and Auditorio de Tenerife. Paula Quintana has been recognized with the Réplica Award for Best Performance for “Las Alegrías”, the Umore Azoka Award for Best Emerging Artist/Creator for “Latente”, among other prizes and nominations such as the Max Awards.
