XXXIII Traída del Barro – Pottery Festival in La Atalaya (Day 5)

La Atalaya de Santa Brígida dresses up for festivities to celebrate the 33rd Traída del Barro, which will begin this Monday, July 6, and will continue until Saturday, July 12, the day on which it will culminate with the “embarrada”. ▪️Monday 6 5:00 pm – “Play with clay” workshop led by Domingo Díaz Barrios ("El Taranta") for boys and girls. Place: Centro Locero. 6:00 pm – Floral tribute to our historic potters. Place: Casa Alfar de Panchito. 7:00 pm – Ceramics exhibition by the ALUD Potters Association, and a sample of the paintings of Felipe Juan. Accompanied by La Parranda de San Antonio. There will be snacks. ▪️Tuesday 7 5:00 pm – “Play with clay” workshop. 7:00 pm – Presentation of the book Maximin, by Esteban Rodríguez García. The event will be enlivened by harpist Armando Santana. ▪️Wednesday 8 5:00 pm – “Play with clay” workshop. 6:00 pm – Family gymkhana at the Centro Locero, led by Gregorio Jesús Rivero Gutiérrez and his daughters, Candela and Graciela. It will include a healthy snack. ▪️Thursday 9 5:00 pm – “Play with clay” workshop. 7:00 pm – Talk and discussion “La Taia y el Put”, focusing on the role of caddies past and present, and the strong historical link between La Atalaya and the Real Club de Golf de Bandama. With the presence of representatives of the club and caddies. There will be snacks. ▪️Friday 10 11:00 am – Traditional gathering and hauling of firewood. 12:00 pm – Traída Chica for boys and girls. Place: CEIP José Manuel Illera de la Mora. 4:00 pm – Traditional stew in the emblematic oven of the Centro Locero. 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm – Salsa Festival with Proyecto Son and Las Musas. Place: Calle Cura Navarro. ▪️Saturday 11 – BIG DAY 1:00 pm – DJ Frank in the Nay and his dance troupe with “music from the day before yesterday”. 2:00 pm – DJ Alejo Sánchez playing great hits. 3:15 pm – Los Hijos de Tula. 3:30 pm – Traída del Barro parade with La Banda Guiniguada leading the crowd to El Goro for the traditional collective “embarre”. 6:30 pm – Clean water bath and hot broth. Organised by Estrella Roja and Peña del Barro with the collaboration of the Santa Brígida Town Council, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Fedac, Alud, and other local entities.
