Film Classroom: The Modern 30s – Everybody’s Woman

In the 2012 edition of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival, the cycle "The Moderns" was programmed. It was an approach to avant-garde cinematographic art prior to the introduction of sound, conceived by our colleague Francisco Ponce. We now propose to complete that milestone with nine films made between 1929 and 1934, selected by Luis Miranda, the festival’s director. SYNOPSIS: It tells the unhappy and eventful life of film star Gaby Doriot. After a failed suicide attempt, she is admitted to a hospital, where under the effects of anesthesia she begins to recall her past and her ill‑fated and tragic love affairs.
