Venezuelan trumpeter Pacho Flores returns to the season of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra in his dual role as soloist and composer, in a program conducted by David Danzmayr, who makes his debut at the head of the ensemble. The evening begins with the Concerto for Corno di Caccia and Strings by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda, a work linked to the galant style that marked the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods. Then, Pacho Flores presents “Albares”, a flugelhorn concerto in three movements in which different rhythms and sonorities from Latin America coexist, from Andean bambuco and Río de la Plata milonga to the periquera of the Venezuelan plains. The program culminates with Symphony No. 8 by Antonín Dvořák, a work bathed in the vivid color of Czech folklore, in which the genuine symphonic drive finds its perfect synthesis with dance-like airs, melodic effusion, lyricism and the freshness that characterizes a large part of his output.
