Free Transport from Arucas to the 25N Feminist Demonstration
Details
The Arucas City Council, through the Department for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, has presented the programme of events to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which will be held on the coming 25 November. The Mayor of Arucas, Juan Jesús Facundo, and the councillor for the area, Beatriz Herrera Suárez, have highlighted at a press conference the institutional commitment of the council in the fight against violence against women, which is reflected in the constant work carried out by all the departments with the aim of continuing to move towards a more just and equal society. The programme designed for this edition includes educational, awareness‑raising and sensitisation activities, through which the prevention of gender‑based violence and equality will be addressed from different perspectives. This edition includes a programme that leaves the usual venues to reach every neighbourhood and all generations with the same message: Faced with sexist violence, we cannot look the other way. The schedule of activities includes talks, workshops, artistic and sporting activities, with two particularly significant events: the 15th Zero Tolerance Race against Gender‑based Violence, to be held on 21 November; and, on 25 November, in Plaza de la Constitución, the Reading of the Institutional Manifesto at 12:00 noon and other activities that will begin from 10:00 in the morning. The Arucas City Council will facilitate attendance at the demonstration that will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, called by the Feminist Network for Gran Canaria - 25 N, by offering free transport departing at 18:00 from the Arucas Senior Citizens’ Centre.
