🌰 🕯️🍂 The Santa Brígida Town Council, through its Department of Festivities headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara, presents the programme for “Finaos 2026”, which will take place from 28 to 31 October. ▪️28 October - 5:00 p.m. / Centro Locero La Atalaya. “Asadero de castañas” (chestnut roast) using handcrafted roasters made by the pottery workshop under the direction of master craftsman Domingo Díaz Barrios. ▪️29 October – 6:00 p.m. / Municipal Library. “Cuentos de Finaos: memoria viva” (Finaos Tales: Living Memory), an oral storytelling gathering in which Juan Sixto and other local residents will share stories, anecdotes and memories of their loved ones. The evening will feature the timple of Cho Adargoma. – 8:00 p.m. / Cultural Centre. “XIX Festival Folk Canarias”, with Vanesa Muela and Lornoar, a journey through ancient instruments and songs from Hispanic popular tradition and Central Africa. ▪️30 October – 5:00 p.m., “¿Hay Santitos?” (Any Little Saints?), a children’s street parade that will set off from the Municipal Library, reviving the tradition of going door to door asking for Finaos sweets, interwoven with stories told by Alicia Ramos. – 8:30 p.m. / Plaza de la Iglesia. “La Casa de Don Alonso” by the company El Gato Engrifao, with Lorca-inspired dramaturgy and direction by Rubén Darío. The play delves into true crime and legend, based on the first documented case in Spain of a murder motivated by esotericism, in 1930. The work is performed by an excellent cast of actors and actresses. ▪️31 October 7:00 p.m. / Municipal Park. “Noche de Finaos” (Finaos Night) on the eve of All Saints’ Day, whose origin dates back to the times when everyday life was linked to the land and herding, and families shared stories of loved ones who had already passed on. Roasted corn cobs and chestnuts. The night will bring together three groups of island folklore: A.F. Satautey, Los Medianeros de Gran Canaria, and Parranda El Pajullo. The gathering, organised by the Town Council together with neighbourhood associations and community groups, once again brings us together around the traditions that have shaped our culture. 🗞️ Read the full news item at santabrigida.es
