"Light in the Darkness" Arctic Photography Exhibition
Details
La Mutua opens a window to the Arctic with the photographic exhibition 'Light in the Darkness' by Javier Delabat The Espacio Cultural La Mutua in Arucas presents the exhibition 'Light in the Darkness' by photographer Javier Delabat, a proposal that transports the public to the most overwhelming landscapes of the Arctic through a careful selection of images captured in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The exhibition offers an intimate and contemplative look at some of the most spectacular settings in northern Europe, where snow, glaciers, northern lights, and the immensity of the landscape interact with light and darkness to create compositions of great visual and emotional power. Delabat, whose professional career began after he settled in Sweden in 2014, has made landscape and nature photography his hallmark. His work focuses on the silence of remote spaces and on the ability of light to transform each scene, establishing an emotional bond with those who contemplate his images. During an interview given to Radio Arucas, the artist explained that this exhibition brings together some of the most special works of his career. "All of them were taken at night, when there is practically no light. For me, photography is precisely that: light. Thanks to long exposures, small details appear that end up revealing the entire image." The Councillor for Culture, Claudio Fo, highlighted that the exhibition "allows us not only to marvel at the beauty of these landscapes, but also to reflect on the importance of preserving natural spaces and the relationship between human beings and their environment." Organised by the Department of Culture of the Arucas City Council, the exhibition will remain open until 31 July, from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, offering a unique opportunity to discover, through the lens of Javier Delabat, the serenity and strength of some of the most fascinating landscapes on the planet.
