🌰 🕯️🍂 The Santa Brígida Town Council, through its Festivities Department headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara, presents the programme for “Finaos 2026”, which will take place from 28 to 31 October. ▪️ 28 October - 5:00 p.m. / Centro Locero La Atalaya. “Chestnut roasting”, using artisanal roasters made by the pottery workshop under the direction of master Domingo Díaz Barrios. ▪️ 29 October – 6:00 p.m. / Municipal Library. “Finaos Stories: living memory”, an oral storytelling gathering in which Juan Sixto and other local residents will share stories, anecdotes, and memories of their loved ones. The evening will feature the timple of Cho Adargoma. – 8:00 p.m. / Cultural Centre. “19th Canarias Folk Festival”, with Vanesa Muela and Lornoar, a journey through ancient instruments and songs from the Hispanic popular tradition and Central Africa. ▪️ 30 October – 5:00 p.m., “Are There Little Saints?”, a children’s parade that will set off from the Municipal Library, reviving the tradition of going door to door asking for Finaos sweets, interwoven with stories told by Alicia Ramos. – 8:30 p.m. / Plaza de la Iglesia. “La Casa de Don Alonso” by the company El Gato Engrifao, based on Lorca-inspired dramaturgy and directed by Rubén Darío. The play delves into crime reporting and legend, starting from the first documented case in Spain of a murder linked to esotericism, in 1930. The production is performed by an excellent cast of actors and actresses. ▪️ 31 October 7:00 p.m. / Municipal Park. “Night of Finaos” on the eve of All Saints’ Day, whose origin dates back to times when everyday life was tied to the land and herding, and families shared stories of loved ones who had already passed on. Roasted pinecones and chestnuts. The evening will bring together three island folk groups: A.F. Satautey, Los Medianeros de Gran Canaria, and Parranda El Pajullo. The gathering, organised by the Town Council and local neighbourhood associations and groups, once again brings us together around the traditions that have shaped our culture.
