“New Times. The Opportunity to Be Older” program concludes its 32nd Edition *Over nine months, 26 activities and 24 workshops have been held, both inside and outside the national territory Arucas, 8 July 2026. – This Wednesday saw the closing of the program “New Times. The Opportunity to Be Older”. This initiative of the Arucas City Council, through the Department for Older Adults, has been held for 32 years. In this edition, an agenda with more than 26 activities and 24 workshops has been completed over nine months, thanks to the involvement of several departments. The program of this 32nd Edition included cultural activities, guided tours, environmental walks through different parts of Gran Canaria, digital literacy workshops, theatre, dance, yoga, and trips within Spain and abroad, among others. This is a well-established initiative in the municipality aimed at people over 55 years of age and/or members of the Arucas Seniors’ Centre. On 1 October, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, the new program for the 2026–2027 period will be presented. People interested in taking part in the many leisure and free-time options offered by this initiative can call the Arucas Seniors’ Centre on 928 09 55 22. This initiative, consolidated over thirty-two years, highlights the determination and commitment of the municipal governing group to improve the quality of life of older people in Arucas through activities aimed at promoting and encouraging active ageing among the population.
