Marc Miralta: New York Flamenco Reunion
Details
In 2026, the 25th anniversary of New York Flamenco Reunion will be celebrated, an emblematic project led by drummer Marc Miralta that has marked several generations of flamenco jazz musicians. An album that was a symbolic and real turning point in the history of flamenco jazz and that helped transform an experimental mixture into a creative tradition, legitimize the fusion of styles, and project flamenco jazz beyond Spain. A hybrid repertoire that reinterprets jazz standards (such as pieces by Parker, Monk, etc.) from a flamenco perspective — or the other way around — and that opened up new creative possibilities for jazz as a performance language and for flamenco as a rhythmic and expressive source.
