Supersaurio - Theater Adaptation
Details
🎭 The Santa Brígida Cultural Center, which depends on the Department of Culture headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara, will host this Friday, October 2, at 8:00 p.m., the performance of "Supersaurio", a stage adaptation of the successful novel by Canarian writer Meryem El Mehdati. Admission to the performance will be free of charge. Under the direction of Rosa Escrig and with dramaturgy by Luis O’Malley, "Supersaurio" brings to the stage, with humor and a sharp eye, the reality of an entire generation facing job insecurity, uncertainty, and the difficulty of making their way in the world of work. The supermarket thus becomes the everyday setting from which the play observes labor relations, aspirations, and the contradictions of contemporary society. El Mehdati’s novel goes, however, beyond a portrait of youth precarity. Through irony and humor, the author builds a generational portrait that also focuses on the Canary Islands, their identity, and the profound transformations brought about by tourism. A close and recognizable perspective that now makes the leap to the stage. The production features a cast made up of Delia Santana, Mingo Ávila, Alexia Rodríguez, Lucía Viera Ruano, and Abraham Santacruz, who bring to life the characters of this particular working universe. The performance is a co-production of Ángulo Producciones, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Teatro Cuyás.
