Beethoven 5: Concerto and Symphony – Gran Canaria Philharmonic
Details
Karel Mark Chichon conducts a program dedicated to two of Beethoven’s most emblematic works: the Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor”, with Rudolf Buchbinder as soloist, and the Symphony No. 5. Two fundamental scores from the composer’s heroic period that embody, with power and brilliance, his ideal of struggle and triumph in the face of destiny. * Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. One of the most notable moments in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Beethoven is this program conducted by Chichon, which brings together two of his emblematic compositions: the Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” and Symphony No. 5, key works from Beethoven’s middle or heroic period. The Fifth Symphony is not only one of the most famous works in the entire repertoire and a true reference within Beethoven’s catalogue, but also the perfect embodiment, like almost no other of his compositions, of the paradigm of creative impulse in its most purely heroic sense, what Beethoven himself described as the struggle and triumph over Fate. Established as one of the most distinguished works in the concerto repertoire, the Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” is a piece of unsurpassed breadth and pianistic bravura, which will feature the great Rudolf Buchbinder as soloist.
