Las Goteras once again gathers around its patron saint, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, during the celebration of its festivities. From July 11 to 18, the Neighbourhood Association has prepared a wide program of religious and popular events. Saturday, 11 The program begins at 8:30 p.m. with the official opening address, which will be given by local resident Gonzalo Ramírez. At 9:00 p.m. the election of the Romero and the Child Romera will take place, and at 10:00 p.m. the first big open-air dance will be held, with music by the group Nueva Impresión. Sunday, 12 At 10:00 a.m. there will be an exhibition of handicrafts made by residents of the neighbourhood. At 12:30 p.m. a Canarian Mass will be celebrated, sung by the folk group Las Goteras, and at 1:30 p.m. the procession with the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will go through the streets of the neighbourhood. At 2:30 p.m. there will be a big community paella in the square, which will end at 4:00 p.m. with the “Verbena del Solajero”, with music by DJ Nico. Monday, 13 From 7:30 p.m., residents will share a tasting of dishes prepared by themselves, in an atmosphere accompanied by games of parcheesi, goose game, bingo and other board games. Tuesday, 14 From 4:30 p.m. there will be bouncy castles, children’s games and an afternoon snack for the children. Wednesday, 15 The festivities will recover part of popular memory with an afternoon dedicated to traditional games starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, 16 The Ermita del Carmen chapel will host Masses at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. At 5:30 p.m. the procession with the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will take place through the streets of the neighbourhood, followed by the welcoming Mass at 7:00 p.m. The day will end at 8:00 p.m. with hot chocolate and churros. Friday, 17 At 8:30 p.m. the traditional bingo will begin, and from 10:30 p.m. the square will once again fill with music and dancing with a big open-air dance enlivened by Grupo Aimar. Saturday, July 18 From 10:00 a.m. there will be a motorbike exhibition, ribbon race, children with their bicycles, envite championship and trophy presentation. Santa Brígida Town Council congratulates the residents for their dedication and commitment. Long live Our Lady of Mount Carmel!
