132nd Anniversary of the Villa of San Bartolomé de Tirajana
Details
San Bartolomé de Tirajana prepares for a historic year. The Town Council, through the Departments of Presidency and Culture, is working on an extensive programme of activities to mark the 132nd anniversary of the town, which will be celebrated next October, as well as on the special programme for the Holy Jacobean Year 2027. This commemoration will be the starting point for an intense cultural, heritage and religious agenda that will highlight the historic centre of Tunte and the Church of Santiago, a reference point on the Camino de Santiago of Gran Canaria. The aim is to consolidate the town as a strategic enclave for pilgrimage on the island, taking advantage of the celebration in 2027 of a new Holy Jacobean Year, when the feast of Santiago Apóstol, on 25 July, falls on a Sunday. The opening of the Holy Door, scheduled for 31 December, will mark the official start of a jubilee year that will attract numerous pilgrims and visitors. The full programme of activities will be announced very soon. We invite you to take part in this very special celebration for our municipality!
