Maestro Dan Ettinger takes the podium of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra to conduct Anton Bruckner’s monumental Symphony No. 5, one of the great peaks of the symphonic repertoire. Known as the “Symphony of Faith”, the work combines grandeur, lyricism and spiritual depth, and culminates in an extraordinary fugal finale, considered one of the great achievements of the Romantic symphony. * Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. With Dan Ettinger’s baton, one of the great summits of the symphonic repertoire is tackled: Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5, a work of colossal dimensions in which the composer himself acknowledged that he had poured out all his vast wisdom in the handling of contrapuntal technique. This is the foundation of an imposing sound edifice in which grandeur, lyricism and dramatic imprint reach a perfect balance. Often referred to as the “Symphony of Faith” because of the profound spirituality that pervades it, in the Fifth Symphony Bruckner unfolds a musical discourse that reaches its culmination in the finale, crowned by a powerful fugue regarded as one of the most brilliant achievements in all 19th‑century symphonic literature.
