Local Fresh Produce Promotion Week at the Agricultural and Craft Market

The Government of the Canary Islands and the Town Council are promoting a campaign to encourage the consumption of fresh, locally sourced products at the Agricultural and Craft Market. The mayor, Davinia Falcón, welcomed the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, and the CEO of Gestión del Medio Rural de Canarias (GMR Canarias), Juan Antonio Alonso, on a day that also included the participation of the Councillor for Primary Sector and Market, Juan Báez, as well as other members of the municipal Corporation. The day began with a visit to the works of the new Municipal Market, an infrastructure that has funding of 1,545,000 euros provided by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Rural Development Programme (PDR). This project will provide the municipality with a modern space adapted to current needs, in order to continue strengthening the marketing of local products and to boost the economy of Vega de San Mateo. Subsequently, the promotion and advertising campaign to be carried out from August 3 to 9 was presented, within the framework of the Dinamiza Rural programme, with the aim of encouraging the consumption of fresh and locally sourced products, increasing visits to the Agricultural and Craft Market of Vega de San Mateo, and continuing to support farmers, livestock breeders and small producers. The visit concluded with a tour of the Market, where they had the opportunity to greet the stallholders and to see first-hand the activity that every weekend makes this space a point of reference.
