Madrelagua is now ready to celebrate the Fiesta de Los Paperos 2026! From July 17 to August 8, in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia CULTURAL EVENTS Friday 24 July After the arrival of Saint Rita, the Opening Proclamation will take place, given by the Quintana Reyes family. Afterwards, performance by the Senior Citizens Folkloric Group of Valleseco. Saturday 25 July 8:30 p.m. – Grand Mexican Parade. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in Mexican attire. 10:30 p.m. – Mariachi performance and costume contest with prizes for the best individual, couple, and group. Sunday 26 July 10:00 a.m. – Motorcycle meetup (classic and sports bikes), with prior registration required. 12:30 p.m. – Ribbon race for motorcycles. Friday 31 July 8:30 p.m. – Big Lip-sync Show (Escala en Hi-Fi) with the participation of the Valleseco Occupational Center and many surprises. Food drive to collect non-perishable items. 10:00 p.m. – Performance by comedian Maestro Florido. 11:00 p.m. – Dance with Son Karibe. Saturday 1 August – Family Day 5:30 p.m. – Children’s party, workshops, bouncy castles and a fun water battle. 6:30 p.m. – Ribbon race for bicycles. 7:00 p.m. – Traditional Potato Contest, with prizes for the best lots and the best individual potato. 8:30 p.m. – Zumacal Los Amigos Folkloric Festival. 10:00 p.m. – Grand Dance with DJ Álvaro Rodríguez and Leyenda Joven. Sunday 2 August – Main Festivity 8:30 a.m. – Livestock Fair. 5:30 p.m. – Grand “Golden Potato” Contest. 6:30 p.m. – Trophy presentation, games and raffles. Saturday 8 August End-of-Festivities Excursion with a route through San Mateo, Valsequillo and an afternoon on Melenara beach. RELIGIOUS EVENTS Friday 24 July 7:00 p.m. – Eucharist at the SVF Parish and procession up to Madrelagua. From July 24 to August 1 7:00 p.m. – Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Novena. 29, 30 and 31 July 7:30 p.m. – Triduum and Eucharists in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia, with special prayers for the deceased of the neighborhood. Sunday 2 August 11:00 a.m. – Solemn Eucharist accompanied by the group Parranda Los Paperos and subsequent procession through the streets of the neighborhood. Tuesday 4 August 7:00 p.m. – Eucharist and return in procession of Saint Rita of Cascia to the SVF Parish.
