Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Violinist Sergej Krylov returns to Gran Canaria to lead a program of Russian roots under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon. Krylov performs Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of enormous intensity that moves between melancholy, irony, and extreme virtuosity, further marked by the oppressive atmosphere of the Soviet Union under Stalin’s regime. The second part is devoted to Pictures at an Exhibition, a work that Mussorgsky composed inspired by the drawings and paintings of his friend Viktor Hartmann after his death. Maurice Ravel later brought it to the orchestra in a version of extraordinary richness of timbre, capable of unfolding all the fantasy and visual character of the score.
