No More Falls Workshop
Details
Preventing falls and preserving the independence of older people are the goals of the workshop “No more falls”, which will be held at the Municipal Senior Citizens’ Club of Santa Brígida next Wednesday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. The activity, led by Fernando López Orihuela, technician of the Official College of Physiotherapists of the Canary Islands (COFC), is part of the health promotion actions driven by the Department for the Elderly, headed by Carmen Juez. 👥 The workshop is open to the public and will be free of charge, with no need for prior registration. Falls are one of the main risks to the health and independence of older people, especially in a context of progressive population ageing. Preventing them requires encouraging healthy habits and promoting tools that help maintain strength, balance, and functional capacity for longer. In this regard, the COFC highlights the importance of doing physical activity on a regular basis and adapted to each person’s abilities. The initiative thus focuses on prevention as a key tool to protect health and promote active and independent ageing, bringing older people practical knowledge and recommendations that they can incorporate into their daily lives.
