Comedy Venues in Las Palmas
Distinto

In the Santa Catalina area, Distinto is one of the most consistent homes of local comedy, though comedy is only one strand of what it does: most nights it works as a music pub, with DJ sessions, live bands, karaoke and drag nights. It hosts the "Jorge Y..." nights, where comedian Jorge Vega invites a different Canarian comic every few weeks, plus improv shows from groups like Improacción. Tickets are cheap rather than free, usually from €5 to about €15, which makes it the perfect first stop if you've never been to a Spanish comedy night.
Auditorio Alfredo Kraus

The big league, and the venue that stages the highest number of comedy shows on the island according to our listings. Right by Las Canteras beach, its halls host the anthology shows of Piedra Pómez, the Reíslas festival galas, and the tours of Spain's TV comedy stars. Comedy is only a slice of a programme dominated by classical concerts, so shows are occasions rather than a weekly fixture. Expect the highest prices on this list: the box office sets them per show and per seating tier, generally from around €18 upwards. If a comedian fills theaters on the mainland, this is where they play when they come to Gran Canaria.
Espacio Cultural Jesús Arencibia (Tamaraceite)

The best-kept secret on this list: the municipal program in the Tamaraceite neighborhood regularly includes comedy nights with Canarian comics, free of charge. It's a bit off the downtown circuit, but if you live in the north of the city, or simply like your comedy without a ticket price, its schedule is worth following.

Sala Faro
Address: C. Concejal Manuel Rodríguez Costas, 1, 3rd floor, Club Hespérides, La Isleta
A self-managed cultural association rather than a business, run by Inoa Segura and Nelson Saavedra. It started in a Sebadal warehouse in 2024 and reopened in July 2025 on the third floor of the Club Hespérides in La Isleta, where it now fits over 200 people. Live music is the core, indie and electronica and singer-songwriter nights, DJ sets and its "jam del faro" improvisation sessions, but it makes room for comedy too: names on its comedy bill include David García del Castillo with Vagos, Maleantes y Homosexuales and Jara with the stand-up show EXÓTICA.
Tickets usually sit around €10, and a good number of nights are free entry or taquilla inversa, where you pay what you thought it was worth on the way out. Comedy here is occasional rather than a fixture, tucked between the concerts, so the agenda is the thing to watch.
Buganvilla Studio

A countercultural basement in Guanarteme with a tiny capacity, about twenty-three seats, where you experience comedy from half a meter away. It programs intimate, experimental shows and works as a laboratory where local comedians test new material on a live audience before taking it to bigger rooms. Many sessions are free. If you like your comedy without a safety net, this is your spot.
El Aparte Espacio Creativo
Address: C. Pérez del Toro, 34, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
An alternative performing-arts space in Arenales that plays a key role in growing the local scene: its Concurso de Monólogos (monologue contest), with packed semifinals and a final, is where many of the island's comics step on stage for the first time. Contest nights are free to attend, and the atmosphere (small room, close-up audience, visible nerves) is the best way to watch tomorrow's theater-fillers being born.
Teatro Guiniguada

The Canary Islands government's public theater, in the heart of the historic Vegueta quarter, programs comic theater and monólogos from the top Canarian and national comedians alongside its drama and dance seasons. It has hosted everything from Kike Pérez premieres to Reíslas festival dates. Tickets usually range from €12 to €18, with reduced fares for young people, the unemployed and performing-arts students. A comedy show here followed by drinks on the Vegueta terraces is a complete night out.
Talleres Palermo
Address: C. República Dominicana, 18, 35010 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
A former carpentry workshop turned multi-purpose cultural space: coworking by day, and by night DJ sets, concerts, vintage flea markets and board game nights. Comedy is not its main business, but it lands fairly regularly, roughly once a month, and when a touring national comic plays a mid-size room in the city, this is usually where. Its industrial hall has hosted Javi Durán with Dopamina, Aarón Gómez with De Cerca and Alberto San Juan's satirical monologue. Tickets run around €15. Worth following their agenda, since shows are announced at short notice. The industrial bones of the building, high ceilings and exposed beams, give live comedy here a texture ordinary venues can't match.
Comedy Beyond the Capital
Teatro Municipal Juan Ramón Jiménez (Telde)
Address: Telde, Gran Canaria
Telde's municipal theater programs monólogos and comic theater regularly. Canarian comics like Jorge Bolaños have played its stage. If you live on the east side of the island, this is your local room without driving up to Las Palmas.
La Cantina del Arte (Vecindario)
Address: Vecindario, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Gran Canaria
The stand-up hub of the southeast: free monologue nights with comics from the Canarian circuit, including Comedy Con Canarias dates. In the same area, Teatro Víctor Jara also hosts comedy from time to time. Vecindario has more stand-up than people give it credit for.
Centro Cultural Guaires (Gáldar)
Address: C. Guaires, 28-29, 35460 Gáldar, Gran Canaria
The north of the island has its own comedy stage, and it is a proper one. The old Cine Guaires was bought by Gáldar's town hall and refurbished into a 508-seat theater, still run directly by the municipal culture department. It is a regular stop on the Reíslas festival circuit and books Canarian and national stand-up all year: Kike Pérez with HUMOr, Omayra Cazorla with Disparate, David Cepo, Wilbur with Piensa en Wilbur, Maestro Florido with 20 años viviendo del cuento, and Cristito in character as "la madre canaria". It also doubles as a recording set for the Canarian TV comedy show En Otra Clave, so some nights you are the studio audience.
In our listings, comedy tickets here have run from €10 to €18, with national headliners closer to €24, and municipal productions are often around €5 or free. Tickets go through the town hall's own box office at entradas.galdar.es. Gáldar sits about 25 km northwest of the capital, roughly half an hour by car, and the theater is right in the old town, so a show pairs naturally with dinner around the Plaza de Santiago.
And in summer, comedy spills into the plazas: the patron saint fiestas of half the island (Arucas, Valleseco, Mogán, La Aldea) book comedy nights with names like Maestro Florido and Kike Pérez, almost always free and open-air. They show up every week in the Holamojo agenda.
The Canarian Comedians Worth Knowing
- Kike Pérez: the Lanzarote-born comic is one of the islands' most beloved entertainers; he fills theaters with sheer physical energy and is currently touring his show HUMOr.
- Aarón Gómez: a total showman; stand-up, music, and host of the Canarian TV late-night show Una mala noche (la tiene cualquiera). Together with Kike Pérez he forms one of island comedy's iconic duos.
- Darío López: master of satire on Canarian current affairs and a social-media phenomenon; his show Mira tú pa eso tours the islands' main stages.
- Piedra Pómez (Paco Santana and Gregorio Figueras): the legends. Pioneers of Canarian humor since the 1980s and creators of immortal characters like Fefa and Siony, they still fill the Alfredo Kraus.
- Maestro Florido: the great voice of rural, costumbrista Canarian humor, a self-described "artisan of laughter" who mines the island's dialect and childhood memories.
- Omayra Cazorla: direct, high-energy comedy and one of the biggest social-media followings on the Canarian scene.
Keep an eye on the national scene too: Spain's biggest stand-up names come through Las Palmas on tour all year round, split between Talleres Palermo and the Alfredo Kraus.
The Reíslas Festival
The Reíslas Comedy Festival is Spain's first touring comedy festival: it plays all eight Canary Islands, with its edition unfolding across September and October. The lineup mixes national headliners with the top names of Canarian comedy, and in Gran Canaria its usual homes are the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, the Teatro Guiniguada and the Centro Cultural Guaires up in Gáldar. If you're on the island in those months, it's the strongest stretch of the year for live comedy.
Open Mics and Improv
