La Vega de San Mateo will once again pay tribute to its agricultural and livestock roots next July 4 and 5 with a new edition of the traditional Farmer’s Festival. As José Déniz, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Festivities, points out: “This year we once again celebrate these traditional festivities, maintaining tradition and innovating, but always recognizing the leading role of agriculture and livestock in our municipality.” SATURDAY, JULY 4 Plaza de la Solidaridad 10:00 a.m. Opening of the 1st Potato Fair of Vega de San Mateo. 11:00 a.m. Children’s workshops. 11:00 a.m. Awards ceremony for local farmers. Afterwards, performance by Parranda Global. 12:30 p.m. Tasting of local potatoes and pork leg. Organised by: Department of Fairs and Department of Agriculture and Livestock of the Vega de San Mateo Town Council. In collaboration with: ADAGA Canarias. SUNDAY, JULY 5 11:00 a.m. Sheep shearing, oxen threshing, and milking of cows and sheep. Plaza de Los Gofiones. 11:30 a.m. Parade by the folk group Los Indianos de Las Lagunetas through the Agricultural Market. 12:00 p.m. Tasting of local products through the aisles of the Agricultural Market. (Organised by: Agrogest). 12:30 p.m. Horse threshing. Area behind the Municipal Sports Centre. Organised by: Department of Festivities of the Vega de San Mateo Town Council. A weekend to enjoy our traditions, our products, and the people who have made the countryside a hallmark of identity for La Vega de San Mateo!
