The most beloved gathering of occupational centres returns to Valleseco with record participation Everything is already prepared in Valleseco for one of the most cherished inclusion events on the island. On June 4, the La Laguna Recreational Area will host the 17th Meeting of Equine Therapy, Traditional Games and Sports, organised by COMPSI and the Valleseco Town Council, with a record participation of nearly 650 people, including users of occupational centres, professionals, technical staff and volunteers from Gran Canaria. The day, which will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., aims to promote the social inclusion of people with functional diversity through contact with nature, animals and Canarian traditions. The programme will feature 13 activity stations such as equine therapy, Canarian dances, bola canaria, stick fighting (lucha del garrote), Canarian wrestling (lucha canaria), tangana, boliche, tug of war, pañuelito, calabazo, cattle dragging, horseback rides and walks through the natural surroundings of La Laguna. Miguel Pérez Sarmiento, director of the Valleseco Occupational Centre, stressed that this is “one of the most eagerly awaited gatherings of the year”, as it combines togetherness, participation and inclusive activities in a unique setting. Equine therapy will once again be one of the most special moments of the day, allowing participants to interact with the horses through adapted rides, brushing and care accompanied by specialised staff. Participating centres: CADI San José Las Longueras (Valsequillo), Santa Brígida, San Juan de Dios, Firgas, Teror, Arucas, Santa Lucía, Moya, Gáldar, Ingenio, Agüimes, Santa María de Guía, CADI El Tablero, ASPACE, ADEPSI, Fundación SER, CADI Reina Sofía and the Valleseco Occupational Centre as host.
