Care in the Center – Support Space for Caregivers
Details
La Aldea hosts a new edition of “Cuidados en el Centro”, a free space for support and self-care for caregivers The Town Council of La Aldea de San Nicolás, through the Department of Social Policy headed by Jennifer del Carmen, will host during June and July a new edition of “Cuidados en el Centro”, a project that seeks to create spaces for listening, support, and self-care for caregivers. The initiative was born as a continuation of the project “Cuidadoras Cuidándose”, previously developed in different municipalities of Gran Canaria, which made it possible to support more than 500 women caregivers through workshops, meeting spaces, and activities focused on emotional well-being, strengthening support networks, and recognizing care work as a social and collective issue. Building on the experience gained in that project, this new proposal is now underway, based on small groups that make it possible to delve into the participants’ real needs and foster the creation of mutual support networks. The sessions will be held in the Training Classrooms of the Local Employment and Development Agency, located at Calle Mariano de Cáceres nº 2, 2nd Floor, on June 17 and 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on July 1 and 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Councillor for Social Policy, Jennifer del Carmen, stressed that “caregivers, who are mostly women, carry out an essential task for the well-being of our families and our community, but they often do so by relegating their own needs to the background.” Those interested can register free of charge by writing to info@marvizigualdad.com or by sending a WhatsApp message to 682 787 012. https://laaldeasanicolas.es/la-aldea-de-san-nicolas-acoge-una-nueva-edicion-de-cuidados-en-el-centro-un-espacio-gratuito-de-apoyo-y-autocuidado-para-personas-cuidadoras/
