Details
The Plenary Session of the Santa Brígida Town Council approved on Wednesday, 10 June, in an extraordinary session convened by the Mayor, José Armengol, the proposal to grant Honours and Distinctions for the year 2026 to seven individuals linked to the municipality. The Mayor highlighted the importance of this agreement, which “rewards human excellence, selfless sacrifice and life paths dedicated to serving our neighbours, recognising their valuable contribution to the development, well-being and progress of the town.” On this occasion, the titles of Distinguished Sons of the Town of Santa Brígida have been awarded to Antonio Santana Saavedra, Ana María Luisa Pérez Doreste, Lorenzo Santana Santana and, posthumously, to Julio Alemán Alvarado. Likewise, it has been agreed to grant the title of Adopted Daughters and Sons to Juan Ramón Betancor Sosa, María Isabel Díaz Díaz and Vito Ondo Motogo Mangue. The proposal to grant these well-deserved Honours and Distinctions was approved unanimously by all the political groups represented in the Plenary Session. The formal presentation of the distinctions will take place at a public and solemn ceremony this Friday, 12 June, at 7:00 p.m., at the Centro Cultural de la Villa, to celebrate as a community the legacy of these seven leading figures of Santa Brígida, within the framework of the Fiestas de San Antonio de Padua 2026.
