Next screening with the “Efecto Cinema” seal “A Poet” by Simón Mesa Soto WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17 7:00 pm Cines Yelmo Las Arenas Tickets on sale on the website Press quotes: “A hilarious story about trying to live a creative life and failing miserably.” (Variety) “A subversive tragicomedy packed with black humour and a big heart.” (Otros Cines) “Tragic and side-splitting at the same time.” (Screen Daily) “An original voice that blends high art with bad taste.” (IndieWire) Festivals: Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard, Cannes; and Horizontes Award for Best Ibero-American Film in San Sebastián, among others According to the director: “A Colombian comedy about poets doesn’t fit the stereotypes the market expects from a film from my country. People told us it felt like an Argentine comedy or a Woody Allen movie; and of course, when a film like that is made in Argentina, it makes sense and it sells, but if it’s made in Colombia, no one knows what to do with it.” It seems festivals and critics have been very clear about what to do with it.
