Historic Camp and Parade in Santa Brígida

Adhica During this weekend, the Parque Municipal de la Villa will be transformed into a large historical camp where you can discover what everyday life in the Canary Islands was like at the end of the 16th century. Visitors will find scribes, bakers, winemakers, surgeon-barbers, militiamen and artisans who will showcase the trades, customs and ways of life of the period. Among the interactive experiences, the public will be able to draft their own will, step into a field hospital, or solve the complex cases of the widows of the Indies. In addition, there will be workshops on historical dances, fencing demonstrations, craft displays and endless activities to enjoy as a family. Saturday 4th 10:30 | Historical walk. 11:00 | Opening of the camp. 11:00 to 14:00 | Fabric-dyeing workshop with natural dyes, led by the spinner and craftswoman Dory. 11:15 to 12:15 | The skill of arms in the Hispanic kingdoms in 1599, by maestro Ton Puey. 12:30 | Participatory period-dance workshop. 13:00 to 14:00 | "Witch Stories". 14:00 | Camp closes. 16:00 | Reopening. 16:45 to 18:45 | Historical fencing class, La Verdadera Destreza, by Ton Puey. 18:30 | Historical dance workshop. 19:00 | Camp closes. 19:30 | Historical Parade, where hundreds of reenactors from the 16th to the 18th centuries will walk through the streets of the historic quarter dressed in uniforms, armor and clothing of the period, accompanied by drums, conch shells, shawms and musical ensembles. Sunday 5th 10:30 | Historical walk. 11:00 | Opening of the camp. 11:00 to 12:00 | Staged combat in a historical context, by Ton Puey. 12:00 to 14:00 | Stage-combat workshop with swords. 13:00 to 13:30 | Period-dance workshop. 14:00 | Closing of the camp. Organised by the Association for the Dissemination of the History of the Canary Islands (Adhica), with the participation of El Batán Gran Canaria 1599, Albaladejo and Esgrima Histórica Santa Cruz.
