Divina Muerte kicks off in Arucas, a terrifying cultural programme Arucas, 23 October 2026. - The mayor of Arucas, Juan Jesús Facundo, and the Councillor for Culture, Carlos González Matos, presented this Friday the cultural agenda of “Divina Muerte. Festividades Difuntas”. The mayor and the head of the department have fired the starting gun for an extensive programme of activities with the inauguration of the “Altar de Muertos”, dedicated to the poets Federico García Lorca, Eugenio Padorno and Albertine de Orleans, as well as to the filmmaker and comic book artist Marjane Satrapi. Under the slogan “When two worlds merge into one”, the Department of Culture of the Arucas City Council proposes to the public a calendar of cultural events for all audiences with free admission. Theatre, concerts, escape room challenges, audio fiction... will weave the programme together until 21 November, with one of the most eagerly awaited evenings being Noche de Finaos, on 31 October, when the Great Heralding Cart of the Dead will travel through the streets of the historic centre of Arucas from 9:00 p.m. Halloween, horror and oral tradition will mark the itinerary of the month of the departed in Arucas, which also caters to those who enjoy being startled, with proposals in the Arucas Municipal Cemetery such as the audio fiction by the theatre company CR Escénica, “Susurros del Malpaís”, which will take place on 30 October at 8:00 p.m., and the show by David Batista, “Ecos de un hilo infinito”; or the haunted house, which, from the Sociedad Atlántica, invites you to share “El Último Sueño”, with several sessions on 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 and 21 November. This is a programme that reaches all the neighbourhoods of Arucas and that has the collaboration of the Asociación Cultural Salsipuedes, the Agrupación Folklórica y Cultural Rumantela, the Asociación CFP San Isidro Labrador, the Municipal Art Schools, Labrantes de la Palabra, the Asociación Vecinal Dácil, 5 Comentarios and Comercios Arucas (COA). Admission is free for all shows, with prior registration required for some of them through the Arucas Espacio Cultural app.
