La Aldea de San Nicolás announces a photography contest To highlight the Canary Island Date Palm This initiative by the Department of the Environment is part of the celebration of the “3rd Festival of Palms” and will keep the submission period open until August 31. The La Aldea de San Nicolás Town Council, through the Department of the Environment, has launched the photography contest “The Canary Island Date Palm” (Phoenix canariensis). This initiative coincides with the celebration of the third edition of the “Festival of Palms”, which will take place this Saturday, August 15. The aim is to highlight this endemic species that is so much our own, as well as to showcase the corners and spaces of La Aldea, a Biosphere Reserve, where it is concentrated. Anyone with a good eye for photography may take part in this contest, whether professional photographers or simple photography enthusiasts. The images must necessarily be inspired by the presence of the Canary Island date palm, both in our rural environment and in the urban areas of the municipality. The organizers remind participants that any works resulting from photomontages or digital manipulation will be discarded, as well as those that show aspects that could endanger the conservation status of threatened species. To participate in the contest, interested persons may submit a maximum of three photographs, either in full color or in black and white. When submitting the works, they may be delivered in person printed on a semi-rigid support, always accompanied by a USB flash drive that contains the file in JPG format. This digital file must have a size between 3 and 5 MB, allowing enlargements to 70×40 centimeters without the image becoming pixelated. The works must have a title and be signed on the back under a pseudonym, also attaching a sealed envelope that contains a photocopy of the ID card and personal information. The organizers also make it easy to send proposals by email to cultura@aytolaaldea.com https://laaldeasanicolas.es/la-aldea-de-san-nicolas-convoca-un-concurso-de-fotografia-para-poner-en-valor-la-palmera-canaria/
