Las Palmas Creative Writers Feedback Group
Details
We're a group of fiction writers, writing in English, we met to provide constructive feedback on each other's work. We welcome people writing in all genres and from multiple nationalities (fluent or reasonable level of English is required). We are fully inclusive and expect you to be as well. Love rules the day. We're looking for new members who, while serious about writing, enjoy a little banter, feedback, debate, and wine. We meet every few weeks to discuss short pieces that have been submitted in advance (we don't write during the meet, we talk about that week’s two submissions). Our goal is to become better writers. GUIDELINES – Submitted pieces are in English and maximum 3000 words — If you’re after feedback on a particular aspect, you may add a paragraph explaining what you are looking for — If you write in a language other than English, you can provide a translated copy. Please note this in an introduction, and what feedback you’d like (there’s no point in critiquing the translation!) – Currently we are accepting fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, but as the group grows these may split into different nights – You don’t have to enter a piece to join a meet and offer feedback — Feedback should be constructive. For example, you can say what you think doesn’t work as well as it could, or things you think need expanding. We are here to support each other — A reasonable level of English is required FORMAT — Two pieces will be chosen at random to be discussed during the meet — We’ll discuss each piece for about 45 minutes each — The pieces must be read in advance by all participants. There is no reading at the meet itself — You must have participated in a previous feedback session before your piece can be read by the group — Drinking is sociable, but we suggest capping it at couple during the feedback part of the evening ; ) — If the membership grows we may host different groups across multiple evenings
