Book Presentation: "Valleseco entre las brumas de la historia"
Details
A book uncovers the history of Valleseco from the 18th century to the present day This Saturday, from 8:30 p.m., the book "Valleseco entre las brumas de la historia" (Valleseco Amid the Mists of History), by author Miguel González Pérez, will be presented at the Casa de la Cultura Teodoro Cardoso León. The Department of Culture of the Valleseco Town Council, through the Municipal Library, is organizing the presentation of the book "Valleseco entre las brumas de la historia", the most recent work by researcher and teacher Miguel González Pérez. The event will take place next Saturday, 13 June, at 8:30 p.m., at the Casa de la Cultura Teodoro Cardoso León, as part of the programme for the Fiestas de San Vicente Ferrer 2026. The publication invites readers to discover the episodes, figures and heritage treasures that have shaped the historical evolution of Valleseco from the 18th century to the present day, through rigorous research based on historical documentation and local archives. The work places the origins of the municipality around the construction of the hermitage of San Vicente Ferrer and the creation of the saint’s confraternity in 1746, events that marked the birth of a community which, despite the difficulties arising from its geographical isolation and adverse climate, managed to consolidate a strong identity of its own. Throughout its pages, the author traces the history of the construction of the parish church, the evolution of the religious and social life of the municipality, and the formation of an important artistic heritage made up of images, relics, liturgical pieces, furnishings and other assets linked to the history of the parish and its inhabitants. One of the most noteworthy aspects of the book is the recovery of various little-known historical events that link Valleseco with significant episodes in the history of the Canary Islands and of Spain, events that had remained hidden in the archives and now come to light thanks to this research.
