Telde retraces the history and Franciscan legacy of San Francisco in the 45th edition of its Historical-Artistic Tour The San Francisco neighborhood will once again become this Thursday the setting for a journey through the history, heritage, and Franciscan tradition of Telde with the celebration of the 45th edition of the Historical-Artistic Tour through the Conventual Neighborhood of San Francisco, one of the most traditional cultural events within the neighborhood’s festivities. The activity will take place on Thursday, October 1, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., with the meeting point in Plaza de San Francisco, also known as Plaza del Convento, in front of the main façade of the Franciscan church. The initiative will be coordinated by the official chronicler of Telde, Antonio María González Padrón, corresponding academic of the Royal Academy of History, and will feature the accompaniment of the Municipal Band of Music of the Telde City Council. This year’s edition will have as its central theme Remembering the life and work of Saint Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death. The footprints of his sons in Telde, a proposal that will allow a deeper exploration of the presence of the Franciscan order and the mark it has left on the history and heritage of the city. The event will begin with a greeting from the Councilor for Culture, Historical Heritage and Tourism, Juan Martel Santana, and will then give way to various presentations linked to Franciscan history and to the neighborhood itself. The 45th edition of the Historical-Artistic Tour is part of the program of the San Francisco festivities, reaffirming the commitment of Telde City Council to the conservation, dissemination, and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of the city.
