Telde celebrates Library Day with a performance of ‘Blood Wedding’ in Parque Arnao. The City Council of Telde, through the Department of Culture, headed by Juan Martel, is celebrating Library Day this week with a wide and diverse cultural programme. The company D’Hoy Teatro will perform this Friday, 23 October, at 8:00 p.m., the play Blood Wedding, a street theatre piece inspired by the well-known tragedy by Federico García Lorca, which will take place in Parque Arnao, in front of the Saulo Torón Municipal Library. Under the direction of Iván Álamo, the performance will transport the audience into Lorca’s literary universe through five of the most renowned scenes from Blood Wedding. The production combines poetry and theatre in an itinerant format that makes use of outdoor spaces to bring the story closer to spectators in a different way. The activity, aimed at an adult audience, is part of the programme organised by the municipal Department of Culture to mark Library Day, which is commemorated every 24 October. On this occasion, the City Council has chosen the performing arts to celebrate a date dedicated to these public spaces for reading and access to culture.
