Maridaje Gran Canaria is an artistic proposal that invites you to discover the island's wine tourism destination through live music and the presence of the visitable wineries of the Gran Canaria Wine Route. The piano of Augusto Báez and the timple of Germán López become the guiding thread of a journey that connects sound, landscape and wine, allowing you to discover wine-growing Gran Canaria. The event will feature the presence of 12 wineries from the Gran Canaria Wine Route, offering the public the opportunity to get closer to the identity of the sector, taste wines with the Gran Canaria Designation of Origin and learn first-hand about the tourist experiences that each winery offers. The ticket includes a tasting glass and, during the show, the audience will be able to drink wine with the Gran Canaria Designation of Origin, integrating the experience into a lively and participatory format. Maridaje is a cultural experience whose format serves to bring the sensations, values and idiosyncrasies of Gran Canaria winegrowing closer to the public through music and wine. Timple player Germán López and pianist Augusto Báez present their new album, Maridaje, a musical project with deep roots in the universe of the senses. Wine and music come together to recreate those precious moments of the day when time seems to stand still in order to enjoy life's small pleasures. Inspired by this universal idea, Germán López and Augusto Báez offer in Maridaje a tribute to the flavours, colours and aromas of the land with an exquisite combination of timple and piano. With an original idea that has already been maturing in the barrel along with the title of the work, Maridaje emerges "as a tribute to those moments in which both music and good wine make us appreciate the small pleasures of existence in all their nuances," says Germán López, "but it is equally based on an appreciation for the aromas of the land and the landscapes of Gran Canaria, which with this artistic proposal both Augusto and I try to turn into sensory landscapes, into a proposal for enjoyment," the timple player states. These are pieces for calm and tranquillity "which you will see are not that calm," notes Augusto Báez, which "are made up of very beautiful melodies, with delicate harmonies, in a fairly balanced work despite the fact that these are two instruments that are not easy to pair, piano and timple, because they are both melodic." Maridaje reveals itself, track by track, like a wine tasting, inviting the listener to savour the music and to discover the values of winegrowing in Gran Canaria. That is why, with each track of Maridaje, the tasting of Gran Canaria wines is proposed through a QR code that comes with the album, as an experiential proposal that inspires people to create their own pairings, with keys for relating specific wines to landscapes, times of day and emotions evoked by the music. This work has been developed with the Gran Canaria Wine Route Association, which is part of the programme ‘Rutas del Vino de España: Experiencias’ (Wine Routes of Spain: Experiences), funded by the European Union through Next Generation EU funds and the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
